Mokaad
Official SiteArtist-info
Mokaad is a funk band from NYC. Founded by Gabriel Garzón-Montano and Davy Levitan, the 11 piece group has crafted a dope sound that combines Prince's relentless fight grooves, the bubbling horns of maestro Fred Wesley and the presence of Sly & The Family Stone. Mokaad has undeniably created a stank that is one of a kind. Their debut EP, entitled 'Booty' (mastered by Henry Hirsch) is quickly turning heads. Rivaling this remarkable debut are only the bands live shows, which have created a loyal fanbase and which continue to capture audiences wherever they play. "We are trying to put the old records on, while adding the boom-bap so young people discover the funk all over again." Says band leader Gabriel Garzón-Montano. "Studying and copying the masters we idolize to eventually take the music where its going." Mokaad is trunk music for real live people.

Quincy Vidal
Official SiteArtist-info
Quincy Vidal was established in the spring of 2009, when Le'Asha Julius and Caleb Eberhardt created a musical duo that embraced and paid homage to all musical styles. It started with the name, and from there they took a year hiatus until the summer of 2010 when they decided it was time to work on their first full length album, The Cookin' in Brooklyn LP. Their debut project gained many comparisons to old school artists such as Digable Planets and A Tribe Called Quest, however, it definitely had it's own sound. One that married the style of two different coasts, and sent listeners on a colorful trek into a different world of jazzy hip hop. That was back in 2010. QV has since grown up. After finishing their last two years of school they immediately began work on their second album, Sentimental Moods, which is due to be released in November of 2012. A significant contrast to their first effort, but still keeping with the jazz influences, Sentimental Moods touches on a more smooth, grown up vibe, with hints of ridiculousness here and there. Get hip, get hype, its gonna be dope. QV has opened for hip-hop artists Kendrick Lamar (T.D.E.) and Astronautalis (Doomtree), and have collaborated with artists such as Trevor Hall, uhlife, and Chazz Giovanni.
