Bear Hands have been fortunate enough to share the stage with bands such as MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, Ambulance Ltd, Cursive, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Le Savy Fav etc. They take to the road again in January 09 for a headlining East Coast/Mid West run in the US and then return to the UK in February for a two week tour to support their Singles Club release on Too Pure/Beggars. In August 2006, Dylan Rau (vocals/guitar) brought together Ted Feldman (guitar), Val Loper (bass) and TJ Orscher (drums) in a small NYC practice space. The original plan was to flesh out some demos Rau had been working on but each quickly saw and heard the potential for a band; a band that would be unique sounding yet widely accessible. Focusing on the rhythm and percussion that Orscher and Loper bring, they strive to bring the driving beat to the foreground and to marry it with the contemplative lyrics of Rau and inventive guitar lines of Feldman. This musical creativity combines and combats ideas set forth by pioneers of the rock genre.

Tested troublemakers of lechery and sass from Atlanta. This all girl band exudes the politically motivated vulgarity and riot grrrl energy of prior decades, allowing them to fit perfectly in a genre with Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna and Bratmobile's Allison Wolfe. The band imitates the gritty, shrieking vocals of Mika Miko at times but is fluidly able to switch to cute, '50s-era pop in 'for their "quieter" songs. The Coathangers are barely comparable to any modern groups - they could have much more easily performed on stage with Delta 5, The Slits, and The Raincoats than today's underground artists, and it is easy to imagine their name and photograph plastered within the pages of 90's zines, exuding radical change and DIY cassette tapes.

Hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, Pity Sex specialize in foggy, lo-fi noise pop and fuzzed-out, blown-speaker walls of sound, all with their own midwestern emo subtleties. Situated somewhere at the convergence of Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth and Hum, the bands quietest moments are defeated reflections with plaintive instrumentals.
