Here are some great tracks we’ve been listening to at The Paper Box
“Alone With You” by Phebe Starr
Phebe Starr hails from Australia and like her name she is seriously going to be an amazing star. Her sweet vocals paired with the driving beat of the drums makes this song a true Electro Pop Gem. Happy Listening!

“Home” by Austra
Feel It Break was one of my favorite records of 2010, and I’ve been eager to hear more from Austra ever since. This track is the lead single off their new record Olympia, which will be out in June. It has the same incredible vocal melodies as their old stuff, but a more organic percussive quality, and more raw, direct lyrics.

“Sunrise” by Moon Tides
As Loud As The Sun came out last year, and these guys have already opened for Tennis, so I’m pretty late to this party, I guess. But here’s what I don’t get: They’re from Colorado. How do they know so much about surfing??? This is dream pop gold, people, and it makes me miss California something awful.

“Mahdi” by The Underachievers
The Underachievers are an emerging hip-hop act from Flatbush in Brooklyn. Self-proclaimed “indigo children,” their debut mixtape “Indigoism” was just released on February 1st. They are about to go on tour to support Pro Era (with Joey Bada$$) and Flatbush Zombies.

“Take it Slow” by Andrew Ashong
Another stellar neo-soul release. I’m loving the funky bass/synth; It sounds like something taken from a 90s adventure game set in space (Space Quest anyone?). Ashong’s retro vocal stylings are the icing on the cake.
